Amalthea's social initiative is a strategic plan of action, born from a sense of responsibility, diligence and a genuine concern to maintain societal well being and human dignity. The United Nations General Assembly - through Resolution 64/292 on 28 July 2010 - recognized the human right to water and sanitation. It acknowledged that clean drinking water and sanitation are essential to the realization of all human rights. Amalthea's efforts are directed at understanding and addressing the challenges in providing these services to low income communities. Through this initiative, Amalthea aims to evaluate the water supply and sanitation facilities available to residents of urban slums in Ahmedabad and disseminate lessons learned from it. It further aims to address any gaps in them through community engagement and collaboration with government bodies and local NGOs.
